Building credibility as an author includes publicizing what you do and your work. First, put up an author platform. It is your directory page, personal space and where your readers can find you on the internet.

A successful author platform includes are:

1. About You Page- include a short bio and your profile picture
2. Books Page - book cover images of your published books, description, and links where to buy them
3. Excerpt Page - a page containing a short excerpt of your latest book, include advance testimonials and a video teaser if there’s any
4. Blog Page - creating content to promote your work or what you are up to keeps your readers interested and in the loop
5. Contact Us Page - containing information or form where the media, the fans or publishing agents can reach you
6. Email List Sign Up Form - this can be found anywhere on your platform. It can be on the website's sidebar, on every page, or after every blog post.

The design and the color scheme is up to you. You can hire a website designer if you want. We recommend keeping the design simple.

Having an author platform is a great way to showcase your expertise and writing style. Publishing quality work is the best way to gain credibility.

For writers, practice writing different ideas. Practice writing fluency in sentence, structure, and grammar. Practice writing using different words that are rich and colorful. Practice writing characters that have depth, heart, and soul. You can publish short stories or excerpts of your work on your platform.

Word of mouth and organic testimonials will follow when you share great work out there. When professionals read and recognize your work, it will also boost your credibility, big time.

When blog writing, respect your audience intelligence. Readers may already know what you are writing about and are looking for more, something they do not already know. Avoid using cliches, made up terms, scary jargons, and repetitive words. Write clearly, accurately and in simple sentences. It will make your writing easy to read. This will avoid alienating your audience. This will invite them to read other articles or better yet, sign up to your email lists.

The key is to write consistent and quality work.

I've never been trapped or stuck in a room just because I forgot about the time or failed to hear the last call. Not even detention! What would I do?

1. Read that book I’ve wanted to buy recently but just don't have the money for it yet.

2. Write a live blogcast of my experience by the minute/hour and keep my location secret while I’m still inside. LOL!

3. Surf the web? I say surf the bookshelves with no loading/foot traffic and interruptions.

4. Have a cafe section? Play barista for a night and make myself a cuppa. Dream come true! Do they keep cupcakes overnight? I’d take one, too.

5. Tumblr-fy, rainbow bookshelf! Rearrange a bookshelf at the back of the store by book spine colors.

6. Those Sharpie pens? Oh those Sharpie pens, I’d test them all out.

7. Bookstore turned library for the night. Research, research, research on new topics for a future blog post.

8. Play music, wear headphones (don’t want to be caught by the night guard) and dance around the bookstore.

9. Try to reach those books at the top of shelves (I’m only 5’1”. This should be fun.) and see what the fuss is all about up there.

10. Find the cheapest book or notebook ready to check out the morning after. Don’t want to be tinkering with the cash register else it might blow my cover.

As inspired by Bookish Serendipity. Share with me your ideas and leave them in the comments section below.

Thank you for reading!

Personal hygiene products need not be expensive. These are the products I am currently using.

Olay Deep Moisture Body Wash. I did not intentionally want to buy a body wash but since I encountered the product at the store, it's not so bad to get it and try it out.

Purity Cotton Buds is available at Watsons. We love the packaging of this brand. There's no special reason why we love this brand except its container. It cleans ears just as fine as other brands.

Colgate toothpaste is our family's go-to brand of toothpaste. I am willing to try out other brands but I still go back to the tried and tested. Plus, #Face2Face with Sarah G campaign is making waves online and I'm such a fan, so.

Sunsilk Smooth & Manageable Shampoo is my all-time favorite shampoo. One hair wash is all it takes to get that smooth and floral fragrant hair all day. Since itchy scalp is ailing me in this really hot weather, Head & Shoulders is making a staple in the shower. I prefer the minty variant but I could try the smooth & silky one, too.

Aveeno is finally in the Philippines. I remember getting Aveeno through my sister who lives in the United States. I remember seeing a TVC of Jennifer Aniston for Aveeno.

Agua de Colonia. I love me any baby cologne. It's not too strong for the Philippines weather. It's light and fresh. Easy to wear on a daily basis.

The first thought that came to mind is that the MV is too graphic.

The violence hits close to home. My Mother was physically abused too, and she too did pack up and left.

I, too, was bullied in school.

What made it too graphic was the suicidal scene. The girl who was holding a sharp blade and there was a close up shot of a thread clipper at a later scene.

It’s not always a fun sight to see even in a music video. But, is this a new concept? No. There has been other foreign artist from the west, who has told stories through their MV similar to Sarah G. It’s not original.

In other MV’s, suicide pills can be seen, a gun or maybe attempting to jump off a building.

But, why are we so shocked?

When I first heard her album and this song, I did think about having to face hardships and having your religion/belief/God as your weapon. I didn’t expect to see the abuse and thoughts of suicide portrayed like that.

Sarah G. is someone who has this squeaky clean image, someone who we all expect to make us feel good and not face reality. I didn’t expect this from a Sarah G MV, because the music itself does not really say anything of one specific abuse.

Let’s not forget. Sarah G did not come from a rich family. We all know her rags to riches story. Because we put her in such a high pedestal, we all grew up watching her smile and not really talk about things that are controversial or political in nature. This is the sign that Sarah G is awake, grown up, showing us that she too has opinions and that she is going to use her platform, her music.

Do I think the MV technicality is perfect or unquestionable? No. It’s not. It feels low budget.

The actors, I thought they did really well. I got confused when the Director cuts to the redeeming part of the story. I had to rewatch, rethink and decipher.

The bullied kid, jumping happily, why? Oh, maybe the bullies got kicked out. The suicidal girl, when you’re at your lowest, call someone, talk to someone about your problems. They could help. The abused woman, walking away is the right way. A group of actors running was showing how we could run from darkness and find the light.

And here I thought the lyrics have a Gospel connotation to it. There was no portrayal of a practice of one specific religion at all.

Never had I watched a Filipino MV and had to think this hard. Stop the hate already. Because, really, why not from Sarah G?

Did you notice that Sarah remained in the dark and still finding her light?

Sending out applications is quite interesting and yes, frustrating too when you don’t get callbacks. But, let’s stick to the interesting part.

I have been dropping my resumes everywhere seeking traditional office roles to work from home contracts. I came across a staffing agency and they seem to be meticulous when it comes to their applicants, as any company should be. What sets this one apart is the application process where I came across taking series of test. One of the tests is the personality test.  I have taken this test in the past and I do see some truths behind the result.

When taking personality tests, you have to be truthful in answering it. The way I did it is to answer the very first thought that comes to mind, an instinctual answer, and not the thought of answer. I wouldn’t like to be categorized in the wrong group. Besides, tests like this have no right or wrong answers. The tricky part would be, if the type of personality you are fits in the role that you are applying for or the business environment.

The result: The Advocate (INFJ-T)

Mind you, I have taken the test before and it gave me the same INFJ results, but I don’t remember getting the “T” of “Turbulent” part. I also remember getting the “The Mediator”, still in “The Diplomat” personality group and not “The Advocate”.

Question: Does your present mood, life situation, maturity maybe affect the way you answer the test and the results? Why is there a difference to the personality type and part of the result?

Advocates are the most likely personality type to choose a minimalist lifestyle.

How do I feel about it?

As I do believe I’m the introverted type, I do also believe that I can be an advocate. There are many instances where people describe me as such, and it’s different from what I thought I am. Advocates are easily misunderstood as extroverted individuals and I have heard people describe me as someone who could be an extrovert.

There was a part in my life where I question the purpose behind things I was doing, be it personal or career. I remember working at a high rise building and then just staring out the window and saying, “What am I doing? What makes this work important? It’s not changing the world.” Yes, it was tad dramatic but I remember that feeling just what “The Advocate” personality is being described.

I was reading the personality strengths and weaknesses. I am familiar with creativity and having insight. I am also familiar sensitivity, being extremely private and feeling burn out easily. When it comes to romantic relationships, I always seek out real connections. I fell in love once and the true connection I felt is something that I want to have in future relationships. I don’t seek casual relationships and it has be genuine making the personality test result accurate in that sense.

Career wise, I don’t how I feel about “The Advocates” personality would not thrive in a corporation set up. Since I was younger, I have always felt that I’m not the salesman type. The test results recommends becoming one’s own boss.
