And Audrey Was Her Name

Ever wonder what it feels like to live in a country that experiences the four seasons? I do. I was born and raised in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the countries that I've been to have only been around Southeast Asia, too. The coldest I've ever experienced in a place would be in Baguio City, Philippines.

Here are a few walking tours uploaded on Youtube that would give us a glimpse of what it is like for other countries during the winter season.

Walking Tour around a snowy Seoul, South Korea

First snowfall in Calgary, AB Canada

Snowfall in Moscow, Russia a walk through the city, and Christmas lights

Snowy New York City

Snowy winter walk from southern Helsinki to the city center

What do you think of these walking tours that are uploaded on Youtube? I think these are great resources for those who can or are not able to travel. These videos give us a glimpse of what it would be like in these places. For someone like me, who grew up in a tropical country, it probably will feel like a nightmare having to endure the crazy months of winter. But, who knows?

Robinsons Galleria Summit Hotel Cebu is the flagship hotel of Summit Hotels and Resorts.

I didn't know to expect when recommending that we stay here for the night. All I knew is that I want to stay within the new Robinsons Galleria Mall in Cebu and not have to worry about the traffic. I wished we stayed longer.

The indoor pool is something to experience. I was told that we have to get a different pass in order to use the hotel's pool. But, we went there, it was clean, stylish and it wasn't crowded at all.

I had an early flight so I wasn't lucky to experience the free breakfast that was part of our accommodation. So, I can't say anything about it now share food photos in this post.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean, comfortable and had every thing we needed. The staff was courteous, friendly and kind.

Knowing what I know now, I highly recommend this place. Mama and I definitely want come back and stay again in this hotel.

If you happen to be in Cebu, even for an overnight stay like myself, I recommend staying in Hamersons Hotel Cebu.

All rooms are equipped with LCD TVs, air conditioning, WiFi and a hot and cold shower. Some selected rooms include a Mini Bar.

The standard room where I stayed was clean and comfortable. All room amenities that you expect in the room is all in there. For standard room, double occupancy, the rate is at Php1,650 net. (Prices are subject to change so please check with the Hotel).

The breakfast the next morning was delicious. I chose Filipino style breakfast with Bangus. Love!

Unfortunately, the Hotel's business center was not working properly. I had documents to print out and was told the printer was not working. Oh well! Going paperless is always a good thing.

Hamersons Hotel Cebu is in the center of the city where most public transportation is accessible. It is located in 0337 Don Mariano Cui Street (along Chong Hua Hospital going to NBI). Visit the website here.

Marina Barrage is Singapore’s water reservoir. It serves as reservoir, a flooding control, and then became a lifestyle attraction.

Address: Marina Barrage

8 Marina Gardens Drive Singapore 018951

How to get there

Take the Red (NS27) or Yellow (EW15) MRT line, wherever you are the nearest, and alight at the Marina Bay Station. Depending on the MRT line you chose, ask the SMRT Information Counter at the exit which way to the Marina Barrage bus stop. Take Bus 400 for a fee or the Marina Barrage Shuttle Service for free. If taking Bus 400, alight at the 4th bus stop.

At the look out, you can see most of Singapore's famous landmarks, the city skyline and the HDB. You will see the Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, the Helix Bridge, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Science Museum.

The weather was not cooperating so please bear with the dark photos. We were not allowed to play in the little park because of the weather. It's dangerous for when lightning and thunder strikes. We have to wait for the weather to improve. I was lucky to see this up close. Singapore's water supply, the technology, they are so advance and yet are not shy in turning it into a tourist attraction. The structure of the lookout, with additional amenities, is an art itself. I just did not get a nice photo of it.

The last few weeks I knew my Singapore work visa will not be renewed was spent going to tourist places that I haven't visited. One of my last pit stop among the handful that there is around Singapore is the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Chopin Monument at the Symphony Lake

Before leaving the house or your hotel, put on SPF, bring a bottle of water and an umbrella. Going to the park, I took the North-South Line MRT and stopped at the Orchard Station. From there, take the 5 minutes bus ride to Tanglin Gate. Here's a more accurate description on how to get there.

Symphony Lake

I was there on a week day so it felt like walking into a secret garden. Well, until I reached certain areas like the restaurant and entrances to attractions like the National Orchid Garden. There you'll see tourists milling around or waiting in line. If you are into flower or landscape photography, you'll love this place.

One of the attractions of the park, National Orchid Gardens.

There's also a tourist shop inside. I got a Chinese calligraphy version of my name and what it means. It's cute!
